I’m thinking of ways I can connect with and talk to everyone who visits Beloved House Project’s Dance class. Try to follow my Language of “The Dance lingo.”

These are the key words of the language of the Dance. These words are the keys of the platform language or the keys of the medium lingo that we use to talk about life. What do they do? you might ask. They hold us in place, they remind us of what we need to do, and they keep us rooted to the same purpose of which we are all here.

  • Flamingo - Flamenco, not flamingo, is an expressive Spanish dance style or art form. I believe it is more of an individual dance style that allows each person the chance to express themselves personally. From what I gathered about this dance, it’s not like a traditional couple’s dance; instead, males and females take turns in expressing themselves using intricate and passionate stomping of the feet and artistically moving the arms. Now, I choose flamingo as the key word because the flamingo bird dances his/her life away every day because they commonly stand on one leg. The biological reasoning is questionable as to why these birds stand on one leg. For me, I just believe that its just sort of worldly signs from God that he purposefully caused them to be different then most other birds. So back to why “flamingo”, this is the main word of our “key” language; it means that it is the major or lead key to the music and dance of evolution and revolution; it is the mysterious intellectual and money move of the one-legged standing human dance of life. We shall see how this key word will play out in the days to come. I have a good feeling that this major key word will come down to the nature vs nurture debate and the God vs science debate. What is the cause of our intellectual and physical prouis.

  • Sombrero - This word means hat in Spanish. Its not just any old hat, its a wide brimmed hat that is commonly worn in Mexico and some Southern American states. This is a key word because I want to emphasize the use of your brain to think harder, deeper, more complexed, more creative, and ultimately just more wise. So, anytime you put any old hat on, you can think, that you should think more deep. If you are a person that does not wear hats, then when you see somebody wearing a hat or a sombrero, you can think like-wise, wise.

  • Chorus - Whenever the chorus comes up in a song, we all recognize it for its familiar tune or its catchy lyrics. I put Chorus in as a key word in our language of “the dance” because we need to remind ourselves that though we are learning dancing and how dance can relate to our daily lives, dance is always predicated on the sounds of the musical instruments that propel the dance forward. Also, the root of the word Chorus is “core”. The music is the core or is the fundamental building blocks of why we even dance in the first place. Whether we are humming or thinking of a beat or rhythm in our own minds, dancing has to, it just has to be brought up upon some substance. And that substance is music.

  • Halau - This is the word to describe the physical setting and spiritual tone of having a place and a group of people to share in. Halau in Hawaiian means just that; its the physical aspect of having people to dance and learn with, its the dancehall or studio where you practice and perform, and its the spiritual undertone that brings it all together in the act of “the dance”.

  • Paso Basico - As I recall from my earliest days of going to school dances like in the 6th grade, every song incites a basic movement. Paso Basico means the one basic step or movement. When we use this word in “the dance” and as we learn together and talk about life together, these two words can bring us to center; it can center our thoughts on being as one. Some of us may be more advanced then others in our language and in the interpretation of how “the dance” relates to our life. If your confused or if the lingo is getting tough to follow, just say “Paso Basico” and we will all agree and know what you mean. Let’s center and ground ourselves for the needs of others.

  • Mitzvah - Now we are talking about learning. The learning curve that is set between instructor and student takes time to develop. Mitzvah means commandment. Why would I use Mitzvah, a Jewish word to help us to

  • Hops - hop, skip, and jump. an expression used to disclose that, really it isn’t that hard. I know having these guidelines

When it comes to people, I know that we can all hop, skip, and jump, and so what’s the problem with learning a few dance moves so that you can apply the technique and the knowledge of each movement to a greater cause and picture. For example, the one, two-step, side to side; the movement from right then to the left. Then repeat. Its very basic and redundant. This can be interpreted, that everyday life has a cadence, and a monotonous rhythm to it. You see, that is the wisdom that can be gained by learning all the dances of the world that it has to offer.

  • Go - Ichi, Ni, San, Shi, Go. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5. “Go” is how you say 5 in Japanese. It is just a natural part of life that we use our brains and all 5 of our senses to everything that we do Flamingo. You see how I used the key word “flamingo” so that I can show you that these key words can be used for our every language to help keep us on track. I used Flamingo because, the sentence that precedes the key word is a revelation, it is a significant find to further understanding and to the never ended need for wisdom. So, “Go” shall be used when its time to literally go. Its time to think, work, move, stop hesitating, start drawing conclusions, make interpretations, find ultimate discernment.

English and English spoken words are what is used in America for us to communicate through speech, listening, writing, and reading. From there we have music language. To take it a step further comes the language of artistic abilities, the language of sports team dynamics, the language of how to be beautiful in appearance, and the language of systems like what makes an elementary school full of educators come together to effectively communicate and teach.

Right now, for me, for you, and for all those who come into the beloved house project to learn and to join in, we are using the language of dancing.

This is very complex and can be hard to understand. So what I’m using are key words that have fundamental laws and definitions to them. Similar to the Dancing of Tango.
